Ana Lourdes Valeriano transitioned peacefully in the early morning hours of April 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving children. She was a few months shy of her 90th birthday. Born in Manila, Philippines, to Alipio and Remedios Tiangco, she entered God’s kingdom and reunited with her husband, Alberto; sister Erlinda; brothers, Alfredo and Rodrigo; son, Manuel; and parents, as well as other relatives who predeceased her. She is survived by her children Cory Recuenco (Dann), Tess David, Vicky Valeriano (Dotty), Nida Valeriano (Manny dec.), Bong Valeriano (Zenny) and Jing Valeriano (Heidi), as well as her nieces and nephews and their families. She will also be lovingly remembered and missed by her 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
On that fine day of September, the 12th, 1953, She married the love of her life Alberto. She was a housewife raising her 6 children. She later worked as a lead cook at UST hospital cafe. The family emigrated to Canada in the early 1980s where she worked as Home Support for 20 years at Marpole Agency.
Ana was able to enjoy traveling with her loved ones. She visited Mexico for her granddaughter Jane’s wedding. Short trips to Seattle to visit her daughter Tess and grandchildren. She vacationed in Chicago and Toronto to spend time with her in-laws, Lolo Bert’s siblings. In 2001, She was blessed to be able to travel Europe- through Rome and Italy. She was able to see Our Lady of Medjugorje during that trip. She loved sharing stories of her travels and the beautiful sites and people she was able to appreciate.
Sister Ana, also known as Lola Lourdes, will be remembered as a proud and loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She takes great pride in her appearance – she ensures she is dressed properly for the occasion. The most significant part of her days is the time she spent in devotion to her Faith. She volunteered at church. She welcomed opportunities to attend Catholic mass and other devotional activities such as her many trips to Our Lady of Grotto Mission BC with Legion of Mary and other parishioners. She was an active member of Legion of Mary in her local chapter for many years.
The family of Ana would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the groups of people who cared for her during her time with us on earth. All the doctors, especially Dr. Ngui (1984-2022) whom she trusted for her medical care. The staff at Chown Adult Day Center encouraged her in their daily activities. The home support staff from VGF, Mt. St. Joseph, UBC who supported with her needs and safety. In Lola’s final year, the personnel at Windermere Care Home welcomed her with kindness and provided special care she needed. We thank you all for your dedication and unending compassion to our mother.
Our family invites friends and family to the Prayer Vigil on Thursday, April 13, from 7pm-9pm to be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 480 E.47th Ave, Vancouver.
