With sadness the family announces that Alfred Clarke, born on July 14, 1927, died peacefully on October 24, 2011, at VGH after a short stay, surrounded by family. He is predeceased by parents, Olive and Dick; brothers, Alvin and Joe; and by his sister Elaine SJP. Survived by wife Anita; children Tom (Lora), Mary Anne, Nancy (Adrian) and Janet; 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Dick (Beryl), Wilbur (Betty), Len (Pat), Olive (John), Bill (Sonja), Ella Jane; sisters in law Mary and Berta; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a caring and supportive person who always said that the three most important things are his family, his Church and the BC Lions. After graduating from Vancouver College and then UBC Law School in 1954, Alf practiced law until retirement in 2008. He was proud to be the lawyer for the Archdiocese of Vancouver for over 30 years. He belonged to the Serra Club and enjoyed his long association with the Newman Club. In spite of ill health for the past 3 years, Alf always enjoyed his visits with family and friends.

Prayers will be offered on Sunday Oct. 30th at 7pm at OLPH Church, 2465 Crown St, Vancouver BC, where Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Monday Oct. 31st. Interment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani.
