ROSSI, ALFONSO passed away in Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 9, 2020, at the age of 69.
He was born in Vallada, Belluno, Italy, on August 2, 1950, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1956. Alfonso was predeceased by his parents, Giacomo and Rosa, and his brother John. He is survived by his wife, Philomena, his children Dionysios (Lauren), Kyriaki (Jean-Louis), Maria (Marco), and Antonia, and his grandchildren Eva, Mya, Aria, Helena, Emilia, Michael and Darius. He is also survived by his siblings Msgr. Bernard, Domenica (Luciano), Maria, Moreno (Lesley), Valeria, Paul (Suzy), Patrizia, Tarcisio (Emanuela), and sister-in-law Delia.
Prayers will be offered on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 555 Slocan Street in East Vancouver, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 18 at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vancouver General Hospital Foundation or Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (Scalabrinian Seminarians) would be appreciated.
In light of current public health recommendations regarding the coronavirus, the Prayer Service and Funeral Mass for Alfonso will be limited to family members only. Thanks to all friends, associates, and fellow parishioners of Alfonso who have offered their condolences to date.
