It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adela Busko on August 25, 2019. She will always be remembered by her loving husband of 64 years Joseph and daughter Donna. She is also survived by her cousin Joan and in-laws in Ontario. Della was born and raised in Vancouver, graduating from John Oliver High School in 1944. After leaving high school, she worked at the Vancouver Sun as secretary to the accounting managers until 1970. She then joined Woodward’s in the cash accounting office eventually retiring from Hudson’s Bay after 20 years. Music was a big part of her life, as she played the piano, violin, sang solos and danced ballet in her youth. Della belonged to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vancouver all of her life, as her parents Emil & Olga Klimko were part of the founding pioneers of the parish. She started singing in the church choir in 1941 at the age of 14 and continued for the next 60 years. She was an active member of the U.C.W.L. up until her stroke in 2014. Her remaining years were spent at Brock Fahrni Pavilion, for which we will always be grateful to the dedicated health care team in the Orange Wing on the 4th floor. A special thank you to Father Joseph Pidskalny, OSBM who always visited Della and provided spiritual support during her illness. We would also like to thank her dear friends Rosanna & Gordie, who always made time to visit her weekly, bringing joy and happiness to her life. Prayer services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 560 W. 14th Ave. The funeral to follow on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Foundation, in support of Brock Fahrni Pavilion, or a charity of your choice.
