Benefits of Preplanning Your Funeral Service

The planning you do now can considerably ease a difficult time later on. It means your loved ones are taken care of – they don’t have the stress of guessing what you would like best, and your passing won’t bring unforeseen financial pressure to your family.

The stress of decision making after a loss can put significant strain on even the most loving family. Pre-arranging removes the pressure and allows friends and family to simply focus on planning your service without undue anxiety.

Our coordinators and funeral directors will help you plan – we will discuss your options in detail to help you make the best decisions for yourself, your estate and your family.

“I’m a husband of 30+ years, a proud father of 4 adult children and a grandfather of one energetic 2 year old boy. I have spent my entire adult life in service to others, working with youth in sports, coaching at the elementary, high school and college level, providing representation support to workers, as a union representative for 35 years, volunteering and then as a full time union officer, helping build financial stability for families through estate planning and insurance tools as a Fraternal Benefits Specialist with the Knights of Columbus, and helping seniors with affordable housing through charitable foundations, serving first as Vice President and then President for more than 10 years. The culture of care and compassion at Kearney Funeral Services allows me to continue the work I have spent an entire life doing, and doing this work within a Company that allows me to provide the best service to our clients the way I would want to be treated. I look forward to serving you!”

Edz Valdez

Prearrangement Counsellor

The high ethical standards and values are what lead me to join the family at Kearney Funeral Services. Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, I had worked with Maersk Line for over 25 years which allowed me to travel and see the world over. In 2004 I aspired to forage my entrepreneurial spirit and founded a services company that continues to serve both the private and public sector and later ventured into a manufacturing start-up in 2008. I currently serve as District Deputy on State Council for the Knights of Columbus BC and Yukon. Though out my professional career and more importantly as a husband and a father I have always tried to lead by example with integrity and live life with high moral values to serve as the Good Samaritan did. As a Filipino Canadian it may be commonly stigmatized to speak about dying; however, having played witness to may heartaches experienced by families due to an untimely death, I believe more than ever that this Stigma is starting to fade. Which is why I am proud to be in service as a Prearrangement Counsellor working with Kearney Funeral Services that operates with compassionate care and high ethical standards as the heart of their mission. I’m here to answer any question you may have, Maraming Salamat Po… Thank you very much!
