Sydney Rhoda Morrison

March 19, 1933 - August 29, 2018

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Rhoda Morrison on August 29. Rhoda is survived by her husband of 59 years George, her brothers Bert and Richard (Avril), her sons Rob (Lueen) and Ian (Liz), her daughter Kate, and her five grandchildren, Samantha, Devin, Clare, Liam and Molly. She was predeceased by her brother John and sisters-in-law Shae and Elizabeth. The sadness of our loss is eased by our gratitude for the blessing of Rhoda’s long life of love, caring and service of others, and by the strong faith which fueled those qualities and sustained her through her final days. She was born in Portadown, N. Ireland, and came to Canada with her family in 1948. Although she was deeply appreciative of her land of adoption, her Irish roots ran deep. Through the years she contributed greatly to her church and community, especially as a professional and volunteer teacher. A service of thanksgiving will be held at Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 6th Street, New Westminster on Thursday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the family home. In lieu of flowers, those so desiring, can make a donation to the work of the Salvation Army.

Dear Rhoda, I remember your kind friendship to me when I was so shy and nervous about stepping out into employment after being 'just a mother' for so many years. My heartfelt condolences to George and family.

George and Family - Words cannot express our sadness or convey our sincerest sympathy at the loss of your dear wife, Rhoda, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a bright light in the world. Kind, generous and much loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We feel blessed for the many years of friendship we shared with her and the Morrison family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My condolences to the family and friends of Sydney. Having been through the pain of having lost a family member recently I can sympathize with all. In these days we all are going through difficult times and one thing that really helped me was turning to the scriptures. Revelation 21:4 was very soothing when it spoke about how God would wipe away our tears. Please take a minute to open your own Bible and read the scriptures. It can truly help.
