It was always a pleasure to walk with Luka, he was so interesting and had a great sense of humour. If there was a more difficult way to cross a river he would take it and get there before the rest of us!
We will miss him.

It was a pleasure walking with Luka over the years. He was an energetic and cheerful man. On a hot day he was usually good for a strip show! We will miss him.

I had the privilege of knowing Luka for most of my life. Ivo and I are about the same age and our families spent time together. There were many fun kids’ sleepover parties at the Kokan household for Ivo and friends and Luka and Vojsa were always the best hosts with the best food! Every New Year’s Eve I still think about the parties where the kids would sleep over at least part of the night while the adults had a great time arguing about who’s wine was better and singing Croatian songs into the night. Luka and Branko would get into the jokes and while we kids may not have understood them, the laughter was contagious. I also remember a time when Luka invited a bunch of Ivo’s friends over to learn about Nikola Tesla. It was a history lesson and an engineering lecture at the same time, but he made it fun and interesting. I also have awesome memories of Luka’s amazing Citroen car that my brother and I loved to ride in. I will always think of Luka as a quiet, stoical individual who cared about people and always had a kind word, someone who loved science and engineering and the outdoors. I’ll miss him.
