Bernard (Berny) Robert Power

February 19, 1960 - April 21, 2018

Obituary

A poet at heart, a lumberman by trade, Berny had a passion for the
finer things in life; his family and friends, good food, great music and an excellent ‘Red’.

Berny was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Renee Power, and his brothers Joseph and Myles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Monique, and cherished daughter, Emmaline, his 15 siblings; Lois (Bob), Ronald (Jan), Lorraine (Paul), Trish (Pat), Frances, sister-in law Dawn, Patrick (Connie), Helen (Ron), Maureen (Kim), Stephen (Patsy), Emmett, Martin (Evelyn), Desmond (Karen), Kelly (Keith), Brian (Susan), Brendan (Bill). Many, many nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces. He will also be missed dearly by Monique’s family (the Lamberts), the gang at Mill & Timber, and numerous close friends.

Although a life much shorter than one hoped for, with his many challenging health issues, Berny showed tremendous grace and strength throughout.

Many thanks to the BMT staff at VGH, Dr. Nantel and the highly-skilled nurses that helped make his struggle bearable.

Funeral Mass to be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 315 Walker St,
Coquitlam, B.C. at 4:30PM Friday April 27th.

Berny, I’ll always remember travelling to Phoenix to watch Spring Training with you and your dad. It was so much fun being with you even though you were only twelve years old. We stopped to gas up on the way home to Vancouver and forgot you had gone to the bathroom. It wasn’t until some miles later we realized you were being very quiet in the backseat. Oh my! We left Berny behind at the gas station. Your dad and I had a good laugh at this but you weren’t too pleased with us. No one will be leaving you behind anymore Berny. You are leaving us behind and ever the sorry for that. Will miss your laughter my friend.

How lucky we were to run into you and Monique at the Festival De Bois. You spotted us in the crowd and invited us to join you at your table. It was great sharing beer and wine with you and your friends.

Sending you our heartfelt condolences and huge hugs Monique, from myself and my sister. Berny was always so friendly and supportive when we would meet him on T15... usually doing “laps”. Our hearts are with you as you grieve his loss . Xo

Sorry to read about the passing of Berny. Had the privilege of knowing Berny while at Apex forest and found him an really enjoyable person to work with.
Have a cabin at Loon Lake which reluctant to let others use however had no second thoughts when Berny asked. Hopefully he enjoyed his stay and his only regret was,
because of a slide on the road, had to take a longer route home.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the words of our loving heavenly Father bring your family comfort and strength during this most difficult time as He promises to bring our loved ones back to life in a perfect world where there will be no more suffering or death (John 5:28-29 & Revelation 21:4).
